As I have written earlier the recruitment process is broken and rigged and the candidate experience sucks.
The percentage of jobs that get advertised can vary, but estimates suggest that around 15% to 20%w of all job openings are publicly advertised.
The majority of positions, about 80% to 85%, are filled through internal promotions, referrals, networking, or direct recruitment efforts.
This is often referred to as the "hidden job market," which many job seekers don't directly see in traditional job postings.
And even that 15% to 20% that gets advertised online is rigged in a way that it is not worth your time, effort, wellbeing and mental health…
LACK OF TRANSPARENCY
Many job ads are vague about key details like salary, benefits, or even the specific role requirements. This forces candidates to apply without a clear understanding of the job, leading to wasted time on both sides.
UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS
Some job ads list an overwhelming number of requirements, combining the responsibilities of multiple roles into one. This discourages potential applicants who feel they can’t meet all of the criteria, even if they’re qualified for the core duties.
AUTOMATED RESPONSES OR NOR FEEDBACK
Many candidates experience a lack of response or automated rejections, which makes the application process impersonal. It’s also common for applicants to not hear back at all, leaving them in limbo.
OUTDATED OR MISLEADING ADS
Sometimes, job ads remain posted even after the position has been filled, or the ad might not reflect the current state of the company or the actual needs of the role.
OVEREMPHASIS ON EXPERIENCE
Many job ads prioritize years of experience over skills, which can exclude talented individuals who may be qualified but don’t meet arbitrary experience thresholds.
POOR FORMATIONG OR STRUCTURE
Some job ads are difficult to read due to poor formatting, unclear structure, or overly technical jargon, making it hard for applicants to determine if they are a good fit.
THE JOB OPENING IS NOT REAL IN THE FIRST PLACE
Some positions have been already given to either internal candidates or other candidates that the hiring manager wants to hire, but by law or internal policy they are required to advertise the position in the open job market. Is is a fake job opening.
✋DO NOT EVER APPLY FOR A JOB POSTING ONLINE ✋
💡 Spend rather 100% of your time getting referrals, networking and building your personal brand as an authority.
Are you curious about how to actually do it and have fun in the process?
